Description
The Archive Specialist, Digital Asset Management serves as the primary administrator of the Digital Master Archives with responsibility of collecting, vetting, and distributing publishing assets. This position maintains digital archives for all Book Interior, Cover, Jacket, eBook, and Kit files. The Archive Specialist engages with various internal departments as well as outside vendors.
Essential Functions
Preserve information and file assets used for various publishing projects.
Ensure the accessibility and reliability of the Master Archives as a central repository for all digital assets.
Follow protocols for the maintenance / retrieval of files and version control in keeping with the company's long-term strategy for digital asset preservation.
Pull application files from archives and create and/or supply the appropriate assets for eBook conversion, website maintenance, and custom content.
Establish best practices for exchanging and receiving files from outside Print Vendors/Color Separators; ensure files with reprint corrections are retrieved and made accessible as the most current versions.
Assist in creation of PDFs from application files for Archive, Sales/Marketing, and other purposes.
Manage multiple projects, prioritize by complexity and urgency, and schedule tasks effectively.
Report progress on quality audits.
Handles other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
4 year college degree or equivalent work experience.
Advanced proficiency in Adobe CC2015 and QuarkXpress.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro and Distiller, the ability to manipulate files with proficiency on MAC and PC platforms.
Experience with archiving and/or digital asset management in a print/publishing environment required.
Must be highly organized, disciplined, and have the ability to prioritize workload.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledge of book production processes and Title Management a plus.
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline- driven environment.
